Bjarni Helgason (b. 1977) graduated from the arts department of Fjölbrautaskólinn in Breiðholt in 1998. The same year  he started studying Graphic Design at the Icelandic Academy of the Arts and graduated with BA from the course in 2001. After graduation he started exploring the visualization of music by animating music videos as well as working on graphic design in advertising agencies. Bjarni has among others animated music videos for BOB, Bent & 7Berg, Coral, Búdrýgindi, Botnleðju, Ensími and Dr. Gunni. His video for Ensími’s “Brighter” was nominated for the Icelandic Music Awards in 2002.

In 2003 Bjarni decided to expand his horizon and left for England for further studies. He graduated from Kent Institute of Art & Design with MA in Media Arts in 2004. At the course he explored the relationship between sound and image both in theory with research and essays and in practise with sound and video installations. The artwork in this exhibition is a part of the process that started two years ago in England. Bjarni now works as a graphic designer and animator at Hvita Husid, as a part time teacher at the Icelandic Academy of the Arts as well as practicing art.
